AN ANALYSIS OF SECOND SEMESTER STUDENTS’ DFFICULTIES IN LEARNING ENGLISH SPEKING SKILL AT PGRI SILAMPARI UNIVERSITY

This study aimed to find out what difficulties hinder students from learning to speak in English at the English Education Study Program, PGRI Silampari University. This research was used a qualitative research with a descriptive qualitative design. The 23 students who participated in this study were selected based on a sample of second semester students in the English Education Study Program at PGRI Silampari University. Questionnaire consists of 23 questions consisting of 1 question and 12 statements used to collect data. Data analysis showed that there were a number of learning problems English Speaking Subject caused by several inhibiting factors such as: internal factors and external factors. The Internal factors included: Inhibition, Nothing to say, Low or uneven participation and Mother-tongue. Meanwhile, external factors consist of: Environment, School System, and Learning Community. Speaking English in the English language education study program cannot be carried out without solving the problems of the inhibiting factors. In conclusion, that speaking English will be effective and efficient if students and lecturers always speak English with each other and can make some disciplines or give sanctions such as giving bad grades, and so on. To be obeyed to speak English in the English language education study program, PGRI Silampari University.
