<note>Need is very important in language learning. For the example are Need in reading, writing, Need in watching news, Need in listening to English song. Need in Critical Listening can make students to learn more joyful. By Critical Listening, students will automatically engage to learn English because it makesthem joyful. The purpose of the study to investigate how is students’ Need in Critical Listening. The writer formulated the problems into two research questions that would be answered by using qualitative research, that is; 1) how is students’ Need in Critical Listening at 1st Students of English Education Study Program STKIP PGRI Lubuklinggau?, and 2) What are the factors that influence students’ Need in Critical Listening at 1st Students of English Education Study Program STKIP PGRI Lubuklinggau? This research had one variable. This research was a case study research. In collecting the data, the writer used questionnaires and interview method that contains positive questions about students’ Need in Critical Listening, then writer choose 30 students consistingof 26 students who had good Need and 4 students who had bad Need in Critical Listening as interviewee. In analyzing the data, the data obtained from questionnaires analyzed. Finally, the writer concluded that students of 1st Students of English Education Study Program STKIP PGRI Lubuklinggau had good Need in listening to Critical Listening in general.
