TEACHERS’ STRATEGIES IN TEACHING READING COMPREHENSION AT SMP NEGERI NAPALLICIN
XML JSONThe aim of this research is to find out kinds of strategies used by the English teacher in teaching reading comprehension at SMP Negeri Napallicin. The method of this research was qualitative research. The subjects of this research were two English teacher at SMP Negeri Napallicin. The instruments in collecting the data of this research were observation and interview. The result of this research shows that there were three strategies that English teachers used namely, scaffolding, think aloud and question-answer relationship (QAR) strategies from five strategies of teaching reading by Vacca to Vacca (1999). The teachers used these strategies to make students understand the reading text and students are directed to more focus on the material explained and students can improve their skill and abilities in teaching reading comprehension. Besides, the students are expected to be better understand the meaning of the contents in a reading text.
