THE EFFECTIVENESS OF MIND MAPPING TECHNIQUE TO TEACH SPEAKING SKILL IN EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS AT SMP N TERAWAS

The aimed of this research was to find out the effectiveness of Mind Mapping to Teach Speaking Skill. The subjects of this research were the eighth grade students at SMP N Terawas. This research was a quantitative research and population of the eighth grade students in SMP N Terawas is 80 students. The researcher used cluster random sampling technique in taking the research sample with a total of 26 students. To collect data, the researcher used oral test in pre-test before used Mind Mapping Technique, treatment used Mind Mapping Technique and post-test after used Mind Mapping Technique. The result of the data showed that the average score of pre-test was 49,33 and the average of the post-test was 70,41. It means the score of the post-test after used Mind Mapping Technique higher than pre-test before used Mind Mapping Technique. In conclusion, the Mind Mapping Technique is Effective to Teach Speaking Skill in Eighth Grade Students at SMP N Terawas.
