THE STRUGGLES OF VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN IN FRANKENSTEIN NOVEL BY MARY SHELLEY
XML JSONThis study aims to find the struggles of Victor Frankenstein in the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. The writer used descriptive qualitative research as method of the study. The Object of the study was novel entitled "Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley. The instrument was the writer himself as the human instrument key. The data collection technique in this study is the writer read, identified, underlined and rewrote the sentences as struggles found in novel. Technique for analyzing data, the writer classified and described the data based on a theory from Maizler (2012); there were four categories as types of struggles; negative struggle, positive struggle, inevitable struggle and chosen struggles. Negative struggle is goal achievement to eliminate a deficit state. Positive struggle is goal achievement that involves transformation from your steady state into a more evolved, grown, or developed state of being. Inevitable struggle deals with the necessary losses and attendant discomfort that are conditions of your life in this world. Chosen struggles are the product of personal choice and are not automatic conditions of life.In conclusion the writer found 30 data from 4 categories, namely 9 negative struggle, 3 positive struggle, 5 inevitable struggle and 13 chosen struggles.
