<note>This research aimed to find out whether or not it was effective to teach reading comprehension through Task Based Language Teaching (TBLT) approach to the seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Lubuklinggau in the academic year of 2024/2025. The researcher used a pre-experimental method, and the data were collected through multiple choice. The population of this research was all of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Lubuklinggau in the academic year of 2024/2025, consisting of 418 students and divided into eleven classes. The sample was taken through cluster random sampling; it was class VII.11 with 38 students. The researcher used three techniques, individual score, normality testing, and matched t-test in analyzing the data. The average score in the pre-test was 61.57, while in the post-test, the students' average score was 75.00. The students' average score in the post-test was higher than students score in the pre-test. The t-obtained value was 44.32, which was higher than 1.687, as the t-table value. It means that the Task Based Language Teaching (TBLT) Approach was significantly effective in teaching reading comprehension through Task Based Language Teaching (TBLT) Approach to the seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Lubuklinggau  in the academic year of 2024/2025.
