THE EFFECTIVENESS OF LAPBOOK IN TEACHING ENGLISH READING TO THE STUDENTS OF INCLUSIVE CLASS AT SMPN L SIDOHARJO
XML JSONThis research aims to determine the effectiveness of using Lapbook media in teaching reading comprehension to students of the inclusive class at SMPN L Sidoharjo. This research applied a pre-experimental method using a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The participants were twenty inclusive class students in the 2024/2025 academic year. The instrument used was twenty items multiple-choice test measuring students' comprehension of descriptive texts. The data were collected through tests, which consisted of a pre-test and a post-test. The pre-test was administered before the treatment to measure the students’ initial comprehension, while the post-test was given after the treatment to find out the improvement in their reading comprehension. The data analysis showed that the average pre-test score was 50.5, which increased to 73.75 in the post-test. The t-test result revealed that the t-obtained value was 18.75, which was higher than the t-table value of 1.729, indicating a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of Lapbook is effective in improving students’ reading comprehension, particularly in comprehending descriptive texts in inclusive classrooms.
