This research aimed to find out the teacher’s strategies and to describe the students' engagement in learning English at SMP Negeri B. Srikaton. There were two research questions in this research, they were (1) What are the teacher’s strategies in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) at SMP Negeri B. Srikaton? (2) How were students' engagement in learning English?. This research was done at SMP Negeri B. Srikaton Tugumulyo. Qualitative approach in descriptive qualitative research design was used in this research because the data was in the form of words rather than numbers. The data were collected by means of the observation checklist, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed by using transcribing and analyzing. The results of this research show, that there were found data; (1) 6 strategies used by English teacher’s in class, and (2) Students' engagement in learning English. Teacher used direct instruction, discussion, small-group work, cooperative learning, role play, and writing in teaching and learning process. These strategies were implemented to enhance students' behavioral, emotional, and cognitive engagement, facilitate the development of new knowledge, and support the growth of collaboration skills.
