<note>This research aimed to identify and analyze the role of parents in improving students’ achievement in learning English of the eight grade at SMP Negeri 5 Lubuklinggau. The researcher used descriptive qualitative. The population of this research was 234 students. The sample was 34 students of the eighth grade at SMP Negeri 5 Lubuklinggau. The data was collected by using cluster random sampling and purposive sampling technique. The Instrument in this reasearch was questionnaire and interview. Moreover, the data was identified and  analyzed with parents’ roles by Stainback and Susan theory. From the data analysis, the result shows that at SMP Negeri 5 Lubuklinggau, parents as  motivators is categorized into very high category (99,80%), parents as  models is categorized into very high category (98,28%), parents as  facilitators is categorized into very high (99,80%), parents as  sources of knowledge is categorized into very high category (99,85%), prents as  coordinator is categorized into very high category (98,85%). Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the roles of parents is very important and give the big impact to improve students’ achievement in learning English, that are from of the five kinds of parents’ role almost all of them are obtained by students.
