IMPROVING READING SKILL THROUGH CONTENT LANGUAGE INTEGRATED LEARNING (CLIL) APPROACH TO THE SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS AT SMP NEGERI SELANGIT
XML JSONThis study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the CLIL (Content Language Integrated Learning) approach in improving students' reading skill. The method used in this study was a pre-experiment with a one-group pre-test and post-test design with a population of 81 students. Then, the researcher used cluster random sampling included 27 students from class VII1. The data collection instrument was reading test a multiple-choice test that focused on descriptive text. The results showed that students' reading skill increased after being given treatment using the (CLIL) approach. The average students score increased from 49.44 in the pre-test to 69.44 in the post-test. Based on the results of the paired t-test analysis, the t-obtained was (7.22) which was higher than the t-table (1.705). It can be concluded which indicates a significant difference between learning outcomes before and after treatments. Thus, it can be concluded that the CLIL approach has proven effective in improving the reading skill of the seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri Selangit in Academic Year of 2024/2025.
